King Ralph sound is one of the best African sounds in Germany. It was founded by King Ralph a reggae dancehall Dj, songwriter and promoter residing in Bremen, Germany. He has been in the biz for more than a decade and a half. He is amongst the longest serving and most active reggae dancehall DJs in Bremen. After playing his first reggae dancehall party at the magazine Keller ( Schlachthof ) in 1993, he was invited to join the unity sound (Bremen). He later became the founder of the Kunta kinteh heritage sound before he was invited to join the one tribe sound after the Gentleman and powpow tour in 2001 in The Gambia, West Africa which he quitted to run his own. Because it is said that `blessed is the child who has his own`.
He was the initiator of the regular reggae dancehall show at the Ting Club / Bremen called hot friday and the brain behind many other reggae parties in Bremen. He has played in almost every club where reggae dancehall was played in Bremen. He is also an MC and knows how to bring a crowd in a frenzy. His long experience has build him a reputation that has took him beyond the boarders of Germany to many cities in Europe. Apart from Bremen, he has played in Bremerhaven, Emden, Leer, Aschendorf, Norden, Hamburg, Berlin, Bielerfeld, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Detmold and also in European cities like Gröningen, Amsterdam (NL), Vienna (Austria), Zurich, Geneva (Switzerland), Genova and Savona (Italy).
King Ralph is a well versatile and talented DJ and has proved that he is a force to reckoned with in any reggae dancehall arena. After years of concentrating in the reggae dancehall scene he has added other genre like house, reggaetone, charts, rnb & hiphop, soca, afro vybez etc to his set just to prepare for the unexpected. He has played alongside top soundsystems, DJs and artists like powpow, soundquake, supersonic sound, concrete jungle (Barney Millah) of Germany, Jah sound (Holland), Youthman promotion (New York / Jamaica), Chris Goldfinger BBC radio 1, Calssic Wonder UK, Saxon sound(UK), GentlemanRebelion the Recaller, Mellow Mark just to mention a few. He is not only active in Germany but also in The Gambia where he has hosted big shows with Gentleman, Goldfinger, Classic wonder, Powpow etc.
In 1998 he organised the first reggae bashment party in Bremen with guest sound from UK, Saxon sound.
The Reggae bashment 2000 was a special one in which he invited the dancehall master, Chris Goldfinger ( BBC radio 1) for the first time in Germany (Hamburg & Detmold).
After listening to a compilation of young Gambian artists, he decided to move the reggae bashment to Gambia in 2001 with pow pow feat. Gentleman. The main goal was to encourage and expose the home grown artists. The same year he organised a Gambian tour with Chris Goldfinger and the full Asha World movement crew.
In 2003, together with a Gambian called Alhagie Daboe, they organised a Germany tour with Rebellion the recaller, a talent Gambian youth who is now a top artist in the reggae dancehall scene.
To crown the year, Gentleman was a special guest on his Birthday bash, making it the biggest reggae dancehall party in Bremen up to date.
In the same year, he was inofficially named Bremen´s party mastermind by a Dirk aka Time bomb from Boombastic sound (Bremen) because of his concepts and activity in the scene.
2004 together with King Bai sound and MC Diamond, they hosted the first Bashment tour which was later called the Tobaski Bashment tour (a one month tour in Gambia). The biggest in the reggae dancehall scene in West Africa attracting international audience. To add some spice to the tour they included the dancehall queen competition to it making it the best dancing competition with trophies and attractive prizes. Couple of years after, they added a football tournament to promote peace between two rival cities.
After playing at the summer jam after show party at the Coco Cocktail Bar hosted by King bai sound, he was invited to play at the summer jam official roots tent in 2008 by King Bai . They sent a signal to the world that african sounds can do it aswell. ´Yes we can´. This was when the Obama campaigne was in full force.
In 2009, he played a great role in enabling Mystic MC to qualify for the Euro Reggae contest at the Rototom festival in Italy.
2010 was another milestone in his career when he was invite to play for the first time in Genova, Italy, where he thrilled the crowd which leads to the promoter inviting him to perform at the BALLA COI CINGHIALI FESTIVAL 2010 / RAGGA COI CINGHIALI AREA in Savona.
