Die Rainhas do Norte sind aus der Faszination fuer die Musik aus dem Nordosten Brasiliens – insbesondere die Trommelmusik der Karnevalsgruppen aus Recife – heraus geboren. Von diesem Ursprung hat die Band die Charakteristik beibehalten, ihr Klangfundament ausschließlich auf Perkussionsinstrumente und Stimmen aufzubauen.
